All around New York. She showed me everything, including the Museum of Modern Art. I spent a couple of days out in Great Neck with her family, and got to know her boys and husband really well. That was very special to me. New York was a trip, too. It was a wild place, and we all came back with some crazy stories. I was picked up by a couple of NYC police officers once while doing my laundry in the city. The place was closed, so I was standing around, waiting for it to open when they grabbed me.

That’s when we put in the Chug-A-Chug machine, which my son Chris built. I knew that he was an excellent carpenter, and he would do a wonderful job. He understood how to work with me, which was a huge help. I’d just give him a sketch, and he’d build these marvelous things just from that. Steve Kirk did the little model of the Chug-A-Chug, and with that tiny model, Chris built this great machine. In fact, it was the biggest piece of animation in the entire ride. After you passed the Chug-A-Chug,.

Have made him proud. John Hench had been working on the master plan of EPCOT for three years, and hadn’t come up with anything yet. So Marty Sklar, who was in charge, called me in, and asked if I would mind taking a crack at it. I got one of the architects I worked with often, and we did a master plan of what I thought EPCOT should be. World Showcase wasn’t one big pond of water in my version. It was a series of islands, and you had to take a boat to China. Then from China, you might have to.

Driver Jacques had. There was only enough room for the three of them, so Jacques said I could take the next ride out. I didn’t mind so much, and I waved them off as they rode off up the Amazon. A few hours pass, and I start to wonder about them. I found Jacques to see if he thought they were gone for quite a while. He assured me that they weren’t, and that everything was fine. So I waited another few hours, and then it started to get dark. Now Jacques started to panic a little bit. He came.

Some of my exterior design work for ABC Wildlife Preserve. George, in a roundabout way, got me hired to do the ABC Wildlife Preserve. One of ABC’s Vice Presidents was a good friend of George. They were looking for a designer for an animal park in Largo, Maryland that they were trying to get off the ground, and George recommended me. The park was already there before they came along, but they were trying to spruce it up. They flew me out to interview and look at my portfolio before they hired.
